Why work at BSNBCS?
BSNBCS is more than just a school and working here is more than just a job; you become a part of a tight knit community within and a part of Bed Stuy. We support one another, our students and our families professionally and personally. Our staff enjoys a collaborative and supportive work environment, with professional growth aligned to their career goals and interests. If you are passionate about building community, getting results for the students and families of Bed-Stuy, we want to connect with you!
What is the classroom setup?
All classroom teaching positions are co-taught except for our Enrichment Classes like Visual Arts, Drama, Physical Education, etc. In some classes there are 3 teachers; an instructional associate, a general education teacher and a special education teacher. Otherwise, there is an instructional associate and a general education teacher in every class. We have a robust teaching staff because we value small group instruction as a way to ensure students have access to their learning. To support this, we also have an RTI Team, an ELL Team and a SETSS Team.
What are the benefits?
- Full medical, vision, and dental coverage
- Enhanced benefits packages valued at $2,500
- 401(k) retirement plan with up to 6% company matching
- Paid time off days
- Professional Development Opportunities throughout the year
- Federal holidays and scheduled school breaks per our annual calendar
What are the opportunities for growth?
At BSNBCS the opportunities for growth are endless. Our educators are encouraged and supported to make growth aligned to their interests and develop their leadership skills every step of the way. Many of our teachers have grown and developed into our strongest administrators and instructional coaches. We support the career development of all our staff.
How would you describe the school culture?
The best way to describe the school culture is a collaborative environment focused on culturally responsive ways to ensure continuous improvement. This is the approach administration has with educators and families and that educators have with students and families as well. It is all about getting to know one another and creating and implementing systems of support to bring out the best in all of our community members with student success at the forefront.
